[ How It Works ]

Registering

This site is free. However you will need to register to use it. To register you will need to enter at least one email address that is not a yahoo or a hotmail email address. The reason for this is to prevent fraud on the site. Many people on the Internet who try to commit fraud use yahoo and hotmail addresses because if they are banned with one they can easily create another.

When you register you will need to enter two email addresses. The first one will be used for correspondence with other book buyers and sellers. The first can be any email you want. If you don't want people to see the main email you use everyday and you would rather them only see your yahoo or hotmail address, you can enter that email. The second will need to be a non yahoo or hotmail email address. If you want to use your non yahoo or hotmail email for both you can do that as well.

Know that the info you register with will never be sold or given out.

Forums

The Forum area is where book readers, buyers and sellers can go to discuss the reading, selling and buying of books as well as other subjects. To enter the forum area you will need to first be a registered user. Again, this is to prevent fraud.

If you are selling a book:

Selling books is free. However in order to sell your books you must be a registered user. In order to be a registered user you must fill out your information along with a valid email address. Once you are registered and have logged on you can begin selling your books by clicking on the "sell books" link. Enter the ISBN number of the book you are trying to sell. When you are done your books will be posted to the site. Your book will be posted on the site for one month. You are obligated to hang onto the book during the time it is for sale on OBT. When someone agrees to buy your book you will be notified by email. Once you receive payment for the book it is your responsibility to ship the book to the buyer.

If you are buying a book:

Buying used books from OBT users is free. To buy used books from OBT users you must first register with a valid email address. Once registered you will be able to buy used books. You do not need to register to buy brand new books. To buy brand new books simply search for your book and click the "Buy New" button. You can search for books by ISBN, title, or author. If a used copy of the book is available you will know because next to the book will be X used copies available where X is the number of used copies on the site. Click on "used copies available" to see the used prices for the book. To view all used books available, click the "Go" button with the search field left empty. To buy a used book click "More Info" next to the seller's name. The next page will show you the details of the book, the condition of the book, and the payment methods the seller accepts. To purchase the book click on the "Add To Cart" button. You will be taken to a page where you are asked if you are sure you want to buy the book from the seller. If you click "yes" an email will be sent to the seller letting them know that you purchased their book. The seller should email you back within 3 days to clarify payment arrangements.

Feedback:

If you buy a book from a user on the site, you can leave feedback about your experience with the seller that all users will be able to read. If the experience was a favorable one you can leave feedback accordingly. If the experience was negative you can leave feedback so that other buyers will know. Seller's can also leave feedback for buyers and both parties can respond to feedback left about them. To see a user's feedback, click on the star next to their username.
